Denver International Airport

As the city of Denver was growing larger and the luck of space for additional runways and airport facilities, the city counsel at the time of Governor Pena decided to launch a project of a new airport named Denver International Airport or DIA.

The works started in 1988 in a suburban part of Denver approximately 23 miles away from the center of the mile high city. The purpose was to build a terminal that can accommodate more international and also to satisfy the needs of the fast growing city. It took four years before the new airport was ready. But they discovered a defect in the baggage system inspired from the European experience but did not function properly when it was installed at the Denver International Airport/ DIA.

Two years later, the problem was solved and since that time DIA has become one of the best airports in the US. Thanks to the talented engineers and gifted artists who worked side by side; Denver International Airport is a masterpiece.

The enormously huge size of DIA makes it the second largest airport in the world and with a high tech approach system that allows pilots to take off and land even in severe weather conditions. Other distinguishing feature of DIA/ Denver International Airport is a heated runway meant to be used during freezing temperatures and heavy snow storms in order to enhance passengers and aircrafts safety.

Public transportation and especially ground transportation was never overlooked , this is why DIA allocates a whole level of its six story building for airport or DIA Transportation companies including Denver Airport Taxi, Denver Car Service and Denver Airport Limousine companies which conduct business from and to the airport. The aim is to facilitate the movement of passengers from traveling to Denver.
